Jim Bruno's songs have been recorded by Shawn Colvin, Chuck Prophet, Mary Lou Lord, Cliff Eberhardt, Thad Cockrell, Maurice Tani and Laurie MacAllister. 

As a performing songwriter he has performed with or opened shows for the following artists: Shawn Colvin, Timothy B Schmidt, Graham Parker, John Gorka, Charlie Musselwhite, Joe Ely, Greg Brown, Mary Lou Lord, Steve Forbert, Bill Morrissey, Big Twist, and Cliff Eberhardt.  He’s performed at the Greenwich Village Folk Festival, the Udine Folk Festival in Udine, Italy and has toured five times in Europe. He also played bass, guitar and sang in the Shawn Colvin Band for a number of years and often performed with Shawn as a duet.

He also teaches songwriting at Foothill College and at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley.

SFSU Sierra Nevada Field Campus, Calpine, CA

I'll be teaching a Songwriting Workshop taking place over a weekend, July 13 - 15. Join me at the beautiful San Francisco State Sierra Field Campus near Calpine, CA. You'll sleep in tent cabins and all your meals are prepared for you.

The class starts on Friday evening, July 13th then goes all day on Saturday and ends on Sunday at noon. For those of you inclined to perform, we'll be presenting a concert for the rest of the campers on Saturday evening.

I'll be teaching a songwriting class this summer at the Freight. It will be the usual six weeks starting July 10th. You can now take the class either online or in the classroom on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm.

Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills, CA

I'll be teaching my songwriting classes this Summer Quarter at Foothill College; The Songwriting Workshop (MTEC 88A), Modern Song Composition (MTEC 88B) and Advanced Song Structure (MTEC 88C). The class is six weeks long and you can take it online or in the classroom on Monday afternoons at 2pm. Financial Aid is available.

Speaker and Participant

Far-West Music Conference, Bellevue, WA

I will be a speaker and a participant at the Far-West Music Conference at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, WA. On Saturday, Oct 7, from 10am to 11:30am I will be on a panel of songwriters. The focus of the panel will be "Songwriters and Their Creative Process". Other songwriters in the panel include; Kelly Brightwell, Woody Moran and Beth Wood. Jonathan Shue will be the moderator.

Jim Bruno and Friends - Reunion and Jam

Varsity Arts Center, 418 S. Illinois Ave, Carbondale, IL

Jim Bruno will be returning to Southern Illinois and will be performing at The Varsity Center on September 17 at 7:30 pm. Jim lived in Carbondale for ten years and during that time was an original member in the Shawn Colvin Band. Jim now lives in the San Francisco Bay area. His songs have been recorded by numerous recording artists including Shawn Colvin, Chuck Prophet, Mary Lou Lord, Cliff Eberhardt, Thad Cockrell and more. He's had eight different music publishers and is currently affiliated with Universal Music, the largest music publisher in the world.

Jim's performance on September 17 will include a set of all original music followed by a reunion/jam that will include a reunion of Pontiac Jones; one of the best bands to ever come out of Carbondale. Musicians 'sitting in' will include Tawl Paul, Robbie Sokes, Charlie Morrill, Michael Potter and more.
